In the subway, there are many signals and signs that you must recognise for safe and efficient operation. Failure to respect them could result in delays and inconvenience for the passengers. <br>
Ultimately, there are safeguard devices which prevent most serious accidents from happening for all possible combination of failures.
Track signals are used to regulate train traffic and ensure safety of all trains and their relative motion. Take time to memorize the signals and their meanings.
==81-717/81-714==
The Subway 81-717 (head) and 81-717 (intermediate) were built back in the Soviet Union in the 1970s, this model
differs itself from the other 81-models not only for its external look, but for its more powerful engine,
without a driver's cabin between the intermediate wagons, and also a bigger range of electronic devices in the cabin.
The 81-717/81-714 is part of the 81 series (in some countries named "81-71"), most of the E models that are still a part of the 81 series
were not as much as alpha-style like the 81-717.
Egorova started a mass-production of these wagons and cabins, not only in small subways, but also big subways, located in Baku, Kiev, Minsk, Moscow,
Novosibirks, etc.

== Start-up process. ==
1. Check the on position of all circuit breakers on the PS, except A5.
2. Check the sealing of the safety devices.
-A5.
-Braking seal.
-KAH seals.
-VAH.
-WAVE.
-RC 1.
-RTS - SLD.
3. Turn on the GV (check the voltage on the v-meter).
4. Turn on the battery, if you wish, turn on the lighting in the driver's cabin.
5. Rear-cabin startup.
-Open the EPK valve.
-Turn on the Headlight switch.
-VUS.
-Cabin lights (optional).
-Radio-Information.

6. Turn on the battery.

7. Check the couplers of the middle wagons, check that the isolation valves are opened and that the EKK is connected perfectly.

8. Front-cabin setup.
-Check if the safety devices are sealed correctly.
-Turn on the battery.
-Open the EPK.
-Insert the reversible handle (SHIFT+0) and put it to a forward position. (0)
-Turn on the BPSN and the Compressor.
-Turn on the headlights.
-Turn on the bright/dim lights.
-Turn on the cabin lights (optional).
-Tick the following switches:
-ALS.
-ARS.
-Announcer.
-Low frequency amplifier.

'''«Е» Wagons''' were mass-produced during 1963-1969, although prototypes existed since 1959.

Currently, the non-modified «Е» wagons are being held in a museum or an office. On july 27th 2015 the last passenger «Е» wagon was
stopped in the «Darnitsa» electro-depot and was dismantled for the modernized wagon type EK-KM-PM.
On November 15th 2015, in honour of the 60th anniversary of the St. Petersburg subway, 3935-3369-3427-3934 were restored in the original color.

Previously, «Е» wagons operated in the St. Petersburg subway until the March of 2015, Moscow until 2008 and Baku until 2001. Until then the «Е» wagons operated as
intermediate wagons, the last time an «Е» cabin was used was back in 2006, Moscow, filyevskaya line.

[[File:E_cab.jpg|200px|thumb|«Е» Cabin in its operating state.]]
[[File:E_salon.jpg|200px|thumb|«Е» Cabin Interior.]]

The «Е» wagon differs itsel from the «D» wagons by the presence of corrugation strips (the first «Е» experimental wagon No. 3001 had corrugation strips on the
lower part of the wagon-body). «Е» wagons also had wider doors, but had no windows between the last door and the end-face of a cabin. Because of this, a new model called
«ЕM» model was created on the basis of the «Е» wagon. Since 1979 the moscow metro had wagons of the «Е» series and the «ЕM» series.
The last «Е» wagon was used back in 2008 (No. 3605), it was fully operating in the moscow metro.
Each axle of the wagon is driven by a separate electric-motor DC-108A with an hour power of 67kW through the gimbal. The rheostat used
regrouping-engines when starting, when starting (X1), and when accelerating (X2) the engines are connected in series, when then controller is in
the (X3) position, the (PP) initializes and the connection is doubled.

==«Е» Wagon on Metrostroi.==
The «Е» wagon has been modified to look the same as the moscow «Е» intermediate and head as well. The «Е» wagon can can couple itself
with EM, EMA, E, EM-508 and/or the EM-509. These wagons are mostly used as intermediate, due to the fact they do not use ARS/ALS at all.
==81-717/81-714==

== Start-up process. ==
1. Check the on position of all circuit breakers on the PS, except A5.
2. Check the sealing of the safety devices.
-A5.
-Braking seal.
-KAH seals.
-WAVE.
-RC 1.
-RTS - SLD.
3. Turn on the GV (check the voltage on the v-meter).
4. Turn on the battery, if you wish, turn on the lighting in the driver's cabin.
5. Rear-cabin startup.
-Open the EPK valve.

Artus Löbrecht: */Train Basics/*

This page will introduce you through the Train Basics of all the metrostroi-related
trains, and how they function.

----

== Introduction ==

Most of the time in this guide we will referr to the [https://wiki.metrostroi.net/wiki/81-717 81-717], and show
its basic functions that also the whole 81 series uses.

The Train Basics will also show the start-up of the train from "Cold and Dark" and how to accelerate/decelerate while driving.

== ARS and ALS. ==

The ARS is the definition of "Automatic Regulation Speed", which is a system that helps the train not to go over

designated speed-limits, this prevents train-crashes that could cause inconveniences and death to the passengers.

The ALS is the "Automatic Locomotive System", this helps the locomotive itself to drive and operate, both ARS and ALS are needed to be

enabled together to fully operate a train from the 81 series.

== The KV (Master Controller). ==

The KV, or commonly the master controller, is the fundamental tool to accelerate with your train.
The KV uses the X as meaning of an acceleration, and the T as a deceleration (braking).

Postions:

X1, X2, X3.

T1, T1A, T2.

== Control-Panel of the Cabin ==

The Control-Panel of the Cabin is probably the most important thing about the train, and helps it operate.

We will split the Control-Panel in various pieces:

Power,

Radio and doors,

ARS and ALS,

Lighting and Headlights,

ASNP (Radio Device),

Red Buttons (ARS-S Brake Perception B, and ARS Brake perception B),

Pneumatic Valve N'1.

All these pieces contain the structure of the Control panel.

Most importantly, we have the valves, they are located on the under-right side of the Control-Panel.

The LVZ has the Driver's valve disconnect valve, which is the blue valve, and the EPK (ARS Electropneumatic valve) which is located on the right-most under-side of the cabin, it's a valve as well.

The MVM has the Train line valve and the Brake line disconnect valve and the Train line disconnect valve and the EPK.

To fully startup the train, these valves are a must to be opened while driving, to cancel the irritating noise of the valves, it is recommended to check that ARS is enabled, and that
the attention pedal is pressed.

== Starting the train from "Cold and Dark" ==

1. Be sure to spawn the train at the deposit of which-ether map you are in. (!station depot)

2. [https://wiki.metrostroi.net/wiki/Train_spawning Spawn] your train, before spawning it, you can customize it by using the menu, select the 81-717 Custom head and set its state to "Cold and Dark".

3. At that point, the train should look like it's sleeping, basically dark.

4. All doors are to be closed in the train, go in the rear-red-panel of both cabins (front and rear) and you should see some unticked "buttons", A49, A53 and A63, tick all of them on.

5. Turn on the power in both cabins.
6. Go outside of the train, and go on the right-side of it, walk along, and you should see, by walking and looking at the side of the train, a "main switch", pull it up, this applies for every side and for every switch you actually find.

7. Go in the rear cabin, and enable the ALS, the Cabin lighting, the Passenger Compartment lighting and the headlights, also pull the EPK valve to an opened position.

8. Turn the power in the middle cabins, they are located above the wagon door, you should be able to see it.

9. Go in the front insert the reverser key (SHIFT-0) and put it to 0 (0), check both right and left doors (A and/or D), they both must open, then close them by using V, they must close.

10. Enable ARS and ALS, open driver's disconnect valve and the EPK, hold the attention pedal.

11. Enable the Low Frequency Amplifier Switch, the sound in cabin switch and the Announcer.

12. Enable the Lighting, Cabin lighting, Passenger Compartment Lighting and headlights, including the dim/bright ones.

13. Customize the ASNP (Radio Announcer, this although depends on the server/map you are in).

14. Go outside of the train and go in front of it, set the last station your train will go to, and the line numbers.

15. Go inside of your train, and hold the Attention pedal, due to constant beeping, and turn on the power of the depot, there should be a cable that connects the power to the train, it's on the right-side of the train, connect it to the second wagon of your train.

16. Turn on the power of the cable.

17. Ask your DSCP (Dispatcher) to open the signals for you, if no Dispatchers are on, open them yourself by looking under the signals, and using the !sopen command.

== Accelerating and Decelerating ==

X1 is used when leaving/entering a Depot.

X2/X3 is used when moving between different stations inside of a Subway.

T1 is used when engaging brakes and before entering a station, always plan your braking ahead!

T1A and T2 is alternated when decelerating to reach a speed and to stop at the given grey signal of a station, try to always get close to it, not past it, not too much past or behind it.

== Train Basics ==

This page will introduce you through the Train Basics of all the metrostroi-related
trains, and how they function.

----

Most of the time in this guide we will referr to the [https://wiki.metrostroi.net/wiki/81-717 81-717], and show
its basic functions that also the whole 81 series uses.

The Train Basics will also show the start-up of the train from "Cold and Dark" and how to accelerate/decelerate while driving.

----

The 81-717 is a train based on both eletric and non-eletric powers, it mostly functions thanks to the ARS (Automatic Regulation Speed) and
the ALS (Automatic Locomotive Signalling).
The ARS helps the train to regulate the speed, or automatically brake if any speed limits are exceeded.
The ALS gives attention to the train and the driver himself about the signals around the selected map in-game. (referr to [https://wiki.metrostroi.net/wiki/Signalling Signalling]).

The 81-717, to accelerate and decelerate uses the KV, commonly called Master Controller.
The KV has the following positions:

----

Accelerate: X1, X2, X3.
Null: 0.
Decelerate: T1, T1A, T2.

These positions are used to both accelerate and decelerate the train, 0 means that the train will not accelerate
or decelerate, the train will just move on the tracks without any power moving it.

The speed-limits that are designed for Metrostroi are:

Och, which means there is no ARS frequency, this is used mostly in Depots, when Och is displayed, do not go over 15km/h.

0, ARS stop signal, this means that the ARS will probably automatically stop your train, this is usually used when signals at dead-ends are closed.

40km/h, explains itself, do not drive in any circumstance past this limit, if done, the attention pedal will enable itself, which will enable an auto-braking, a
beep will also be heard to get driver's attention, to disable that, press SPACE once.

The 40km/h process applies to the 60km/h and the 80km/h.

----

Control-Panel of the Cabin

----
The Control-Panel of the Cabin is probably the most important thing about the train, and helps it operate.
