Metrostroi

Metrostroi is a free modification (add-on) for the Garry's mod. It simulates the most of train systems with DC and AC engines. These are official trains, that are simulated:

• E, Em508, Ezh, Ezh1
• 81-717/714 (MVM & LVZ)
• Ezh3, Em508T
• Ema502, Em501
• 81-720/721 "Yauza" (DC from 1997)
• 81-722/723/724 "Yubileyniy"

Installation

Install Garry's mod game first

Since Metrostroi is a addon for the Garry's mod - firstly you need to buy the game on Steam.

Note: You can get Garry's Mod cheaper on Steam sales.

Metrostroi Installation

After you bought and installed Garry's Mod - you need to install the Metrostroi.

1. Subscribe to all addons listed in the collection.
2. Launch the game.
3. Wait until all addons are downloaded and mounted.

Note: First launch of the game may be long.

Important:Model detail in the Advanced video settings must be set to High.

Important:If you're having missing models and/or materials - try to remove all Metrostroi related .gma files in "%steamfolder%/steamapps/common/GarrysMod/garrysmod/addons" folder and restart the game.

Singleplayer Game

For singleplayer game, it is highly recommended to create a dedicated server in your local network (it will be visible in the LAN tab in the Garrys mod server list.) For a dedicated server, its configuration there is a separate guide from the link bellow

For a dedicated server now you DO NOT NEED download content from the Github, it is highly recommended to delete Github Content if you still have it. If you did not know about the Metrostroi`s Github, it means you came to MetrostroI after August 2, 2017, (2017 Update) then forget about this paragraph. Also old addons like 81-717.6 or Ema cargo, Drivable Trams - MUST BE in unsubscribed state or deleted.

For a comfortable game just be sure you checked the following:

• The latest version of Garrys Mod with installed modifications of Metrostroi and his maps
• In the video settings the detail level of "models and textures" is high. (Solves the problem of invisible doors, bodies, bogeys)
• In the video settings enabled "anti-aliasing". (Solves the problem with the glasses, the transparency of some elements)
• In the video settings the shadows settings are high. (Solves the problem with lights from backlighting)

Optimization by reducing the settings in the game will not give you anything, because of the Source Engine!!

Multiplayer game

To play on public servers with other players, just go to the game section Find a server and search by key map names. All the maps except b46 now are in separated packs in the Steam Workshop, so install them, otherwise you will not have models in place of the map, there will be ERRORS and blue textures(It indicates that you have not content somewhere and the game can not find it)

There are two types of servers: ranked and unranked. In ranked servers you need to pass exams to drive a train, which are not recommended for new players. Unranked servers are free-to-drive, where you can spawn and drive without any exams.

Note that the maps are separated ADDONS, their AUTHORS can make mistakes on maps and also use content from other addons, usually in such cases the author creates and indicator with additional addons they are asked to subscribe to. We advise you to follow such instructions. Below you can see the list of maps and links to their pages in the Steam Workshop, do not forget that circumstances can change - authors can update maps by adding or removing the necessary content from the page of their Steam page.
